A nanny is a professional childcarer who has formal
qualifications or extensive experience with children. All our nannies also have
training in first aid and CPR. Nannies usually work considerably longer hours than
au pairs, up to twelve hours a day 5-6 days a week. Nannies can have sole charge
of the children, are responsible for chores directly relating to children and can
also do some housework.
Nannies as professionals have knowledge about health and safety as well as physical and mental development of children and, unlike au pairs, nannies can independently plan the children's daily and weekly routines. Full list of suitable nanny duties can be found here.
Nannies are household employees and families are required to pay all relevant tax and social security
contributions. We currently place live-in nannies only (live-out if the family provides a separate flat nearby).
The weekly salary a nanny receives varies in different countries depending on working hours and duties as well as the qualifications and experience of the nanny. Please read detailed information regarding your country here. Many nannies are willing to do extra babysitting or housework for an hourly rate but cannot be expected to do so. Nannies should have all public holidays off and receive a minimum of four weeks paid holiday per year.
